Course Description
Course one is the first in a three-course series for 6th through 8th grade students. The sixth grade math course covers a mixture of mathematical topics including: number and operations, data analysis and probability, algebra, geometry, measurement, integers and problem solving.
I am very excited to be your child’s math teacher this year! I believe with us working together as a team, your child will have a successful year!
Homework: Most nights your child will receive 15-25 problems of homework related to the lesson taught from the textbook or practice handouts. It is very important that your child keeps up with the homework each night and seeks help when needed. Completing and handing in homework on time will help students’ overall grade.
Homework Quizzes will be given sporadically to check for understanding and will count for the homework grade that day. Students will be allowed to use corrected homework and notes on the homework quiz. I encourage students to write themselves notes while we are correcting the homework. The homework quizzes will usually consist of 5-10 problems similar to the homework problems.
Lesson Quizzes will be given throughout the chapter and will cover 2-3 lessons at one time.
Chapter Tests will be given at the end of each chapter and will assess all concepts taught throughout the chapter.
Grades will be based on:
Chapter Tests 40%
Lesson Quizzes 30%
Homework & Homework Quizzes 30%
