Student Planners

Your child has been given a student planner.  Each day, assignments are posted on the board listing any homework or projects.  This is done in every class.  Your child will be reminded and encouraged to write down all assignments posted on the board in the assignment notebook.  Each night, your child is responsible for getting his or her assignment notebook signed by a parent or guardian.  This will let us know that you have seen the notebook and any notes we may have written and are aware of homework that has not been completed.  Please note: late/missing assignments will be noted in the planner and all handouts and graded work will be clipped in your child’s planner.

Absent Folder

When your child is absent, an absent folder will be sent home containing all of the work that your child missed that day.  Your child will have one day for every day that he or she is absent to make up the homework.  You are welcome to pick up this folder at the office on the day that your child is absent after 3:00PM.

Homework

We believe that the purpose of homework is to foster responsibility and self-discipline.  Therefore, there will be frequent homework assignments.  Some of them will be due the next day and some will take several days.  These assignments will be activities that are extensions of the classroom or that practice a specific skill.

Late Work or Missing Work Homework:

If your child does not turn in an assignment, the grade will be inputted as a 0 and this will affect your child’s grade (late/missing assignments will also be noted in your child’s planner as not complete). Your child may turn in any late assignment one day late for ½  credit.  After one day, the 0 will remain.

Late Projects

If your child does not turn in a project on the day it is due, the grade will be inputted as a 0 and will affect your child’s grade.  For each day the project is late, the project will be marked down 1 full grade.

Homework Hotline

Each day the homework assignments will be recorded on the homework hotline.  To access this information please dial 847-7905 ext. 73031 for Mrs. Keller (Social Studies and Language Arts) and/or ext. 73027 for Mrs. Kipling (Science and Math).
